The Iwilei/Kapalama district has been formally designated as an area of major population (housing) growth, however sea-level rise and deficient infrastructure systems challenge this long-term vision.

The City and County of Honolulu is beginning to develop detailed strategies for building out the district in a manner that prioritizes resilience in the face of a changing climate and rising seas.

The City invites you to an evening presentation by Piet Dircke—Global Leader of Water Management for Arcadis in Rotterdam, Netherlands—who is considered a leading global expert in urban resilience, flood protection, water management, and climate change adaptation.

Mr. Dircke’s presentation will highlight best practices in this dynamic field and concepts for how to invest in and grow the Iwilei/Kapalama district. View the flyer here.

This effort leverages the City’s Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency and its membership in the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities network to attract knowledge and resources.
